Celebrating 10 Years of Excellence at Radial Halle

The Early Days: Building from the Ground Up

This Year marked a special milestone for Radial Europe, our Halle distribution center celebrated its 10th anniversary. What began as an ambitious vision in 2014 has evolved into one of Europe’s most sophisticated fashion and e-commerce fulfillment hubs, powered by the dedication of an exceptional team.
When Radial first established operations in Halle in 2015, the choice of location was strategic. Positioned in the heart of Germany, just 20 minutes from major logistics hubs including DHL, Hermes, and DPD, the facility offered unparalleled access to European markets.
The People Behind Radial’s Fulfillment

Site Manager Stephan Friebel, who joined the project with 23 years of logistics experience, recalls those early days:
“We saw the potential immediately. Germany lies in the heart of Europe, and Halle is in the heart of Germany. But potential means nothing without the right team to make it happen.”
The celebration this year was particularly meaningful as it honored the colleagues who’ve been there from day one. “They’re the reason we’ve succeeded,” Stephan emphasizes. “Ten years in, we’re still focused on what matters: reliable fulfillment and taking care of our team.“
This human element has been Halle’s defining characteristic. The facility maintains a core workforce supplemented by flexible staffing through local partnerships, a model that has proven essential for managing the dramatic volume fluctuations typical of modern e-commerce.
Evolution Through Innovation
Over the past decade, Halle has undergone continuous transformation. What started as basic warehouse operations evolved into a 55,000 square meter technological marvel featuring over 300,000 bin locations and sophisticated automation systems. The facility’s growth tells the story of smart investment and strategic thinking.
Several million euros went into state-of-the-art conveyor systems that revolutionized operations. Instead of workers traversing vast warehouse floors, products now flow seamlessly through multi-level conveyor networks, allowing staff to remain in designated zones for maximum efficiency.
“I’ve watched logistics evolve from manual work to highly automated operations” reflects Stephan. “But at Halle, we’ve always maintained the balance, combining cutting-edge technology with the human expertise that makes the difference.”

Deep Focus. High Standards.

As e-commerce exploded over the past decade, Halle positioned itself as the go-to solution for fashion, sportswear, cosmetics, and jewelry brands. The facility developed specialized capabilities including garment-on-hanger systems and flexible storage solutions that could adapt to diverse product requirements.
The numbers speak to the facility’s growth and capability:
- 55,000 m² of total logistics space
- 170 employees across multiple shifts
- 24/6 operational capability during peak periods
- Late 19:00 cut-off times enabling same-day shipping
- 24-hour delivery across Germany and Eastern Europe
This human element has been Halle’s defining characteristic. The facility maintains a core workforce supplemented by flexible staffing through local partnerships—a model that has proven essential for managing the dramatic volume fluctuations typical of modern e-commerce.
Sustainability and Innovation
The past decade has also seen Halle emerge as a leader in sustainable operations. LED lighting throughout the facility, motion-detection systems that optimize energy use, and “packaging on demand” capabilities reflect a commitment to environmental responsibility.
“We tell our clients to start transitioning now, because by 2030, plastic won’t be allowed in the EU,” notes Stephan, highlighting how the facility helps brands prepare for regulatory changes while reducing environmental impact.
Looking Ahead The Next Decade
As Halle enters its second decade of operations, its evolution is far from over. What began in 2014 with semi-automated systems that once felt cutting-edge now serves as a solid foundation for the next wave of innovation. Over the years, Radial has continuously adapted to meet the growing demands of the e-commerce industry and Halle is no exception.
As customer expectations rise, especially around same-day and next-day delivery, the strategic advantage of Halle’s location near major logistics hubs has become even more crucial. This proximity enables faster, more efficient last-mile delivery, while ongoing technology enhancements ensure the site stays ahead of the curve.
With increasing automation, smarter data use, and a strong focus on operational excellence, Halle is ready to support the next generation of omnichannel growth. Resilient, scalable, and future-ready.
